A DF members pack could be something that could be looked at. I'd be willing to pay to use DF. Maybe a free area and a paid area of some sort?

i think that'd separate people too much, and if you cant afford to pay you shouldnt be penalised.

obviously if we did the membership greg'd owe me a few beers coffees at the *cough*party*cough* conference though

I think that a conference with the right sponsorship and if people were willing to purchase tickets (I know that would probably put people off) could easily put a good wedge of money into the DF coffers

What about a mobile version of the site?

Cut down to fit on the screen more easily.

Plus an icon for when you add DF to the home screen on an iPhone for example.

Thanks for the suggestion Tony, this has come up a couple of times before, and will be something we look into. The only thing putting us off doing this at the moment is that vBulletin (the forum software the forum runs on) has released a new version, so far the feedback for it hasn't been great, so I'm just waiting to see how that improves with new releases before jumping in at the deep end, as it has some major changes from the current software in the way it's setup.

Once I know if DF will remain on vBulletin and goto vB4.0 or switch to an alternative such as IPBoard, then getting a mobile friendly skin added will be a priority

Cheers,
Greg

I got a quote for building an iPhone App for DF and it would be about £5000 from a developer mate of mine

chris £5k sounds cheap to me for iphone development.

there's sites for recruiting app developers and they start at £35k for what looks very basic.

there's gonna be an even bigger rush for the iPad i reckon.

that's why i'm learning it! haha

wouldn't it be cheaper to have a more mobile web friendly stylesheet

Some people do like to use a phones other than the iPhone after all

My girlfriend's cousin's sister's niece can do all that old design eyephone stuff.

What do you want doing?

I'm sure my cousin's sister's niece's uncle's friend's son's girlfriend's baby-sitter's mother's friend's girlfriend can do something similar

Twitter... Don't get any high expectations.
Portfolio... Coming some day soon, hopefully.

Or you could save yourself the 5K and add TapaTalk to the forum. I've just enabled it for A1 Business Forums and it's really quite good
